| I like the idea of using a hole saw for the brackets. It never occurred to me to use one, if I had it would have made life a lot easier for me while creating those brackets. Using Z32 lenses gets mentioned all the time and although they may offer a better/sharper cuttoff that should not be what a HID retrofit is all about. The purpose of a HID retrofit is to improve the amount of light projected onto the road while being evenly distributed and also preventing glare to oncoming traffic. The purpose of the cutoff shield is to prevent glare for oncoming drivers. This is already achieved by the stock E46 projector/lens combination. Just because it's not super/ultra sharp has little relevance so long as it abides by regulation. The reason why I retained the original Bosch lenses is because they were designed by Bosch to work together with the rest of the component in the projector. If you look closely to the z32 lens and compare it to a Bosch lens you will notice a difference in the curvature between the two lenses. Therefore, it safe to say the focal point in the two lenses are different (and they are), which means the way the light is distributed will be different. This in my opinion in more important than how sharp your cutoff is so long as it abides by standard regulations, which I'm sure the E46 projector does. BTW, the reason why the E46 lens does not have a super sharp cutoff is because the centre is frosted. Yes, I too agree an ultra sharp cutoff is appealing but it does nothing to help light up the road, just as polished wheels do nothing for your handling. The difference is that although replacing the E46 projector lens with ones from the Z32 will sharpen the cutoff it will also affect the way the light is distributed on to the road, while polishing wheels doesn't have a negavie affect on your handling. How much is the distribution of light affected? I don’t know exactly so I decided to stick with the complete/original E46 projector assembly.
